Tranquilities Series for Hospital Patients is a five-part guided imagery program that combines authentic environmental sounds, music therapy, and if the patient desires, their personal faith.
Guided imagery can be performed in-person with the patient or recorded on a CD. Typically, through controlled breathing and progressive muscle relaxation, patients achieve the relaxation response. Then they are encouraged to picture and imagine a peaceful safe place, and guided through creating images in their mind to release worries, fears, and pain or to encourage sleep and healing.
Tranquilities, however, is more than just a simple relaxation CD. The professionals who put the program together carefully designed it to accomplish cognitive restructuring. Each CD uses appropriate metaphors that are employed in the imagery. As a result, the patient learns to view their worries and fears in a new and positive light, helping them to relax.
The Tranquilities Series has taken guided imagery to a new level.

Each CD has three tracks. Track 1 includes scriptures and references to God, while Track 2 omits these. Use the track that is appropriate for you. Track 3 includes only the music and environmental sounds for use when you just want to relax or unwind.

The Peaceful Rest CD gently guides patients to a state of relaxation, while the sounds of crickets in a field and the gentle music gently lull them to a deep sleep.
